Colleen -Vocals
Colleen Comerford Hayes, Married to Jody and proud mother to their two beautiful children
(and sweetest pup).
Hailing out of the same beautiful suburbs of Georgetown, Ontario as our drummer, Colleen has become an instant centrepiece of Station 31. Her musical journey began not too long ago when her husband would constantly encourage her to sing for his band back in 2018 after years of hearing her sing every song that came on the radio word for word and it always sounded very musical. It took some extra encouragement from friends, but she finally gave in and the rest is history.
When Station 31 was formed back in the early part of 2023 after guitarist Shaun Kazemi and drummer Jody Hayes reconnected after 20 years and decided to get together for a jam, it was on one condition, that Colleen would be the lead female vocalist of the band.
Since then, Colleen has worked to perfect her craft, get more comfortable on stage with each and every show and become the front woman that we all love. Her courage to overcome the fear of putting herself out front has been an inspiration to all of us and we are grateful for her willingness to take on this challenge at this point in her life.
A little side note, Jody and Colleen keep their squabbles away from the band, most of the time anyway.
Jody- Drums/Vocals
Straight out of the suburbs of beautiful Georgetown, Ontario is our very own Jody Hayes. The unofficial band leader who not only sings and plays the drums for Station 31, he also takes care of our sound for both FOH and our in-ear monitor mixes. He is the setlist curator and backing track guru.
Jody is a self taught musician that has a passion for learning and is constantly striving to improve his skills. Prior to taking up drums full time in 2017, Jody was a guitarist, he started playing when he was 14 and played in various bands from the age of 15. With many live performances under his belt and over 30 years experience as a musician in multiple bands, Jody has a lot of experience to offer and he brings it all to Station 31.
Not only is he our drummer, he does take lead vocals every now and then and you can hear the 90's Alternative Rock influence come through in every note he sings. A little rasp, a little punk, but pure rock n roll.
A proud family man and father of two teenage kids, happily married to his beautiful wife of 19 years (and bandmate, which is truly a dream come true for him) and unofficial trainer and proud owner of the family GSP, Mr. Marshall! And yes, he is named after Jody’s amp of choice when playing guitar . Spending time with his family, coaching minor hockey and rocking out on Friday and Saturday nights with Station 31 makes him who is and we all love him for it!
Chris- Bass
Our very own Chris Illes. Bass player by night, GM and family man by day. Currently residing in the bustling suburbs of Burlington, Ontario.
Chris answered the call when we were in need of a bass player. Let’s just say, the first audition in March 2023 may not have gone as well as we all had hoped, but the 2nd call we made he graciously agreed (surprisingly ) and two weeks later he showed up having learned 20 songs and the rest, shall we say, is history.
Chris has become a full time bass player after being a life long self-proclaimed “mediocre” guitarist. If you’ve seen him play with Station 31, you wouldn’t know that he has only been playing the bass for a a short while. He has committed countless hours improving his craft and it clearly shows in his abilities during every live performance. His 1st performance was with Station 31 on December 16th, 2023 at Wild Wing in Georgetown.
Away from work and the band, he enjoys hiking with his beautiful wife, Agnes, and their beloved doodle. A proud father of 2 wonderful kids and when he’s not ripping bass lines like a seasoned pro, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing a little Rocket League from time to time!
Shaun- Guitar
From Milton Ontario, our very own Shaun Kazemi who loves the local live music scene.
Having grown up in Toronto and Mississauga, Shaun had the opportunity to see many great live bands over the years which have helped mould his love for live music.
With over 30 years experience playing guitar, Shaun has played many live shows locally from his early days in the 1990s in small Toronto Clubs like Lee's Palace and Sneeky Dees, having a cameo at a much larger venue at Toronto's Rebel Night Club with International touring band Steel Panther.
Today, you will find Shaun out with his friends in Station 31. As of recently, Shaun has been asked to play live at the Milton Menace home games of the OJHL. You can catch him playing solo before the game and during intermissions.
When Shaun is not playing guitar he is home with his wife Kelly and his kids enjoying family time.
Shaun can be bribed into most things with 6 tall cans of Milton’s own Orange Snail Brewers Rattle N Nemo Amber Ale and the promise of going out to see local live bands.
